This painting was completed for the 2016 Wasatch Plein Air Paradise in Midway, Utah. I found this scenic view of the Heber Valley from the Midway Cemetery seeking shade and a place to have lunch. The temperatures were in the high 90's just 6 days before the 4th of July. I was so shocked to see the growth of Midway from a sleepy quiet rural hideaway just a few years ago.
I found a 1950's Schwinn bicycle hiding under a grapevine awhile back. I visualized myself biking but it wasn't until a long, lost friend encouraged me to just get on and ride that I actually did. Isn't that how life is for us at certain points in our journey through life? Fear vs Fearless? Let us decide and not be afraid come what may! Then help others on their way.
Happy Thanksgiving! I am so blessed to live in Sanpete County, Utah. Beautiful landscapes, fresh air, and lots of turkeys!
Here are some turkey facts:
I'm so excited! I decided to enter one of my sunset paintings from September into the Randy Higbee Gallery's 7th Annual 6" Squared Exhibition & Sale in Orange County, CA. I am in! The Gala Reception is Saturday, December 3rd in Costa Mesa, CA.
My favorite time of the month is to watch the moonrise sitting
around a campfire with friends and family.
Last month I participated in the Moab Plein Air. The weather was absolutely perfect. I painted along the Colorado River as it winds through the canyon. I seem to gravitate to this spot every year and I paint the same scene. It reminds me of the quote from Heraclitus, 'No man ever steps in the same river twice, for it's not the same river and he's not the same man.' Can I change it up a bit? 'No woman ever paints the same river twice, for it's not the same river and she's not the same woman.'
