Snow Cat

Picture
studio study, oil, 6x6, 'Snow Cat'
A snow cat reminds me of a machine with large tracks used to groom the ski slopes at my favorite ski resorts in Utah. But not this Abstra-Cat hidden in the deep powder. This painting of 'Snow Cat' has only three shapes. I have been reminded that keeping the painting simple makes the design more interesting. Do you agree?

I asked a classroom of first graders to draw a picture of a snow cat and this is what they came up with. Can you tell the girls artwork? What creative ideas!

Yep - simple shapes, but an awesome painting! What a great idea to have kids draw the subject - used to teach K-2 kids - they are so expressive in their drawing.
